The Promised Land: The Basis for the Jewish Claim to Israel   $5.00

One of the major problems that faced the Jews as they began to resettle the land under the British Mandate in the 1920ís and continues to call into question the rights of the Jewish people in their ancient homeland, especially in the contested areas of Yehudah and Shomron, the so called occupied territories, is the claim of the native Arab populace, who today call themselves Palestinians, that the Jews, who were defeated and exiled by the Romans some 2,000 years ago have lost all of their legal rights to the land. In fact, they claim that since the conquest by the Arabs in the year 638, the Land of Israel rightfully belongs to them and not the Jews. From a secular view, as we point out in this lecture, the Jewish claim is open to much debate. This lecture focuses, however, on the repeated promises made to the Avos (Patriarchs) as well as to the Jewish people, as recorded in Scripture and explained by the Sages, that the Land of Israel is the permanent homeland of the Jewish people.
