The mitzva of yishuv Eretz Yisrael, settling the Land of Israel and personally living there, is held in unusually high esteem in the eyes of our Sages and later authorities. Many, throughout this long golus, exile, have fulfilled this mitzva and reclaimed or lived in the land at great personal sacrifice. This lecture explores both the parameters of the mitzva of yishuv Eretz Yisrael in our times as well as the prohibition of forcibly ending the golus, the exile, through rebellion or mass resettlement.
